Zozibini Tunzi from South Africa is the new Miss Universe 2019

Today we celebrate you Zozibini Tunzi in all your crowning beauty! Congratulations on winning the Miss Universe pageant yesterday!  During her acceptance speech Tunzi spoke about the importance of diversity and inclusion in the beauty industry and the importance of shifting old ideas about beauty standards, and of course celebrating that “black girl magic.” Tunzi stated When Tunzi was crowned as the winner of the 2019 Miss Universe competition on Sunday night, she took a moment to speak about the importance of shifting antiquated beauty standards — and finally celebrating “black girl magic.” “I grew up in a world where a woman who looks like me — with my kind of skin and my kind of hair — was never considered to be beautiful,” the 26-year-old said during her closing statement. “I think it is time that stops today. I want children to look at me and see my face, and I want them to see their faces reflected in mine.”

This is the first time in history that in the same year, Miss America, Miss Teen USA, Miss USA and now, Miss Universe are all black women!

Wear your crown proudly Queen! ?

The Natural Movement vs. The Natural Movement: The Battle Within

The natural hair movement isn’t a new phenomenon. In those times wearing your natural hair was based on a resistance to the racist Euro-centric “idealistic” beauty standards and a proclamation of black self-love.
